Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of every rescue group, and Healing Hearts Animal Rescue Group needs your help! Three to four million companion animals are euthanized in shelters every year. We can only save a small fraction of these animals, but in order to continue to do this, we need committed volunteers. Read below for some ways we can use your help.

Foster

We do not have a shelter facility, and all of our dogs are in loving foster homes until they find their forever homes. Fosters provide love, shelter, and safety, and Healing Hearts provides all veterinary care. Adoption Events

Our adoption events are held on a regular basis at different locations in Fairfax County VA, these events normally run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.. Adoption Event volunteers help take care of the dogs, which they appreciate, during the event. Help is in the areas of setup, walking, keeping areas clean, keeping fresh water, and event teardown for our dogs . They also talk to potential adopters and provide information on adoption process.

Transport

Both local and long distance transports are another great way to get involved with HHARG!

Help transport dogs from their foster homes to and from our adoption events, and/or take dogs to veterinary appointments.

Do you enjoy road trips? HHARG needs help in transporting rescue dog and puppies from kill shelter in the surrounding states back to our fosters here. Just let us know the days you are available, and how far you are willing to drive or co-drive!

Home Visits

We require a pre-adoption home visit on each adopter. Home visit volunteers are trained to evaluate home environments, to ensure that our dogs are placed in safe, appropriate homes.

Other Ways

Are you a dog groomer or trainer? A grant writer? A social media guru? Can you plan fundraising events? If so, we can use you, too! There are so many ways to help.
